What are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are thin yet durable pieces of tooth-shaped porcelain that are custom made to match your natural smile in a professional dental laboratory.
Dr. Stacy Alston bonds the shell onto the front of your tooth, creating an aesthetically-pleasing and functional smile. Veneers can be used to completely reshape your teeth and smile or just a single tooth.
Veneers can be used to fix the following problems:
- Crooked and misshapen teeth
- Severe discoloration or staining
- Teeth that are too small or large
- Gaps or unwanted spaces
The benefits of porcelain veneers include:
- Enhanced self-confidence
- Long-lasting, natural-looking results
- Correction of dental flaws and restored function
- Resistance to stains
- Complete customization for your mouth
- Relatively quick, minimally invasive procedure
- All-natural materials are used
First, Dr. Alston will make an impression, or mold, of your prepared teeth. At this time, we’ll decide on the shade that suits you best. We send the impression to a dental lab that custom-makes the veneers to fit your teeth. This can take up to several days, and you may be given temporary veneers to wear in the meantime.
At your next visit, Dr. Alston will place the veneers on each tooth to check their fit and shape. After making any adjustments, the teeth are cleaned, and the veneers are bonded to the tooth.
